Spring Haul Out 2023: La Cruz, Mexico

We have spent the better part of the last week hauled out in La Cruz, Mexico. We didn’t haul out because of any problems. This was just part of our regular maintenance routine.

What wasn’t routine was that we hired a company to do the bulk of the work. Last time we did all the sanding, scraping and painting ourselves. This time we let someone else do it. Actually, we had them strip and sand off all the old layers of bottom paint so we were right down to the gel coat. From there, they primed the hull and added fresh bottom paint.

We’ll go back into the water this afternoon. Then we’ll give the boat a thorough cleaning. Boatyards are dusty places. The dust has managed to find its way inside despite our efforts to keep it out. Ah well, we’ll get it back to shipshape in no time.

  1. Well good to see the Cambria all dolled out in new paint. That should last for your long voyage ahead. It is snowing very heavily this morning and if this keeps up for the rest of the day we will be calling on Ted Buss to plough us out.
Marlene and Chris are still coughing a bit. This cold/flu is a tough one. I have manage to avoid it although when I woke up up yesterday morning was feeling rather unsettled so did not go to church. First time in awhile that has happened. Anyway when I got up this morning I was feeling fine.

Neither of our hockey teams are doing well. Vancouver won’t make the play offs for sure and it looks like Calgary might miss as well. Considering they were the top team in the Western conference last year this is quite a tumble in the standings.
