When we lived overseas, I felt it was easy to make friends. When we moved to a new country, people were eager to welcome us, give advice to us, and share those hard to get items with us. The common denominator was surviving in a new, exciting, extraordinary and sometimes overwhelming environment.
I am finding the sailing lifestyle very similar. We seem to have instant friends whenever we arrive at a port or anchorage. People are quick to invite you over for a happy hour to discuss past travel excursions, future travel plans, where the best shops are, or boat problems. It is definitely a welcoming community just like we found living overseas.
Making new friends is always an enjoyable experience. Glad to hear this report..
