We are so lucky to have met a family from the sailing vessel Renard. Simon, Marie, Charlotte, age 9, and Alice, age 7, are a delight. The girls have great imaginations, can entertain each other well, love the water, are helpful when on our boat, and are lovely to hang out with. Their parents aren’t bad either!
We first met them in Mexico but just briefly. We then happened to sail from Mexico to the Marquesas at the same time. We had a bit of radio contact with them at this point. However, it was planning the passage from the Marquesas to the Tuamotus and beyond that we really got to know them. We have enjoyed exploring the Tuamotus, Society Islands, Cook Islands, American Samoa, Tonga, and now New Zealand with them. And the good news is they don’t appear to be sick of us yet!

We hope to spend a lot more time being their buddy boat as we plan to sail around New Zealand and possibly to Fiji in the fall with them. It is comforting to know that another boat is sailing the same route as you to help with navigational choices, for moral support, and to help fix things when they go awry.

What Fun!! 😍
