We took some solid waves on our trip south from to New Zealand. A few sent water up and over our cockpit dodger. Some hit pretty hard. As a result, several of the screws that hold it to the cockpit combing pulled out.
It took a few tries, but I think we have it fixed now. Our most recent solution, and hopefully the last, was to drill out the holes and fill them with epoxy resin. Once the epoxy cured, we screwed the dodger in place. Hopefully, the screws will hold. Actually, I hope we don’t take any waves over the cockpit, so we don’t have to test if our fix works.

Are waves like that scary?
It sounds scary to me.

Hi Frances, they aren’t really scary. They are far enough apart that their rhythm is predictable—mostly predictable at least.
