We really enjoyed our time in the San Francisco Bay Area. We managed to get a few boat projects done, caught up with friends and family, and had fun playing tourist. Sausalito We spent a fair bit of time anchored in Richardson Bay off the city of Sausalito. It was our first stop nearly twoContinue reading “San Francisco”

Crescent City to San Francisco Bay
We made it! The first big leg of our trip is done and dusted. We sailed under the Golden Gate Bridge and on to Sausalito on Thursday afternoon. The jump from Crescent City to San Francisco was uneventful compared to the run from Neah Bay to Crescent City. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not complaining.Continue reading “Crescent City to San Francisco Bay”
California Dreaming No More
No need to dream about it. We’re here! We’ve covered a lot of ground/water since our last post. In the Strait of Juan de Fuca, we spotted humpback whales several times. We’ve enjoyed some great fast sailing. At times we had more wind and waves than we wanted–steady winds in the mid 30s and gustsContinue reading “California Dreaming No More”
One More Day!
We are busy getting everything aboard and finding places for it all. We leave the dock tomorrow!! Yikes!!!
Sails
We got our sails back on. We took them off after our trip around Vancouver Island and had UK Sails look over them to check for wear and places that needed reinforcement. Our sails are big, heavy, and awkward to work with so getting them on and off was a bit of a job forContinue reading “Sails”

Barkley Sound to Victoria
Barkley Sound is a beautiful cruising area and well worth several days of exploring. Unfortunately, we didn’t spend those days exploring. As this was the last leg of our journey and our son was going to join us in Victoria for the Canada Day long weekend, we were eager to keep moving. The trip downContinue reading “Barkley Sound to Victoria”
Clayoquot Sound
The trip from Nootka Sound to Clayoquot gave us some of the best sailing conditions of our trip. We had 20 – 25 kts of wind aft of the beam. It meant for several sail changes but that’s okay. It was great to have good conditions. Once in Clayoquot Sound we enjoyed spectacularly beautiful anchoragesContinue reading “Clayoquot Sound”
Rugged Point, Kyuquot Sound, British Columbia
Rugged Point on Vancouver Island’s west coast definitely caught us by surprise. We’ve been to some beautiful beaches over the years. This one ranks up at or near the top for rugged spectacular beauty. We anchored on the inside of the point and walked through the trees emerging on to a spectacular white sand beach.Continue reading “Rugged Point, Kyuquot Sound, British Columbia”
Esperanza Inlet and Nootka Sound
Upon entering Esperanza Inlet we made our way to Queen Cove for the night. The Cove was well protected and had several cabins along its shore. The next morning we made our way up Esperanza Inlet passed the community of Esperanza and into Tahsis Inlet. This route allowed us to see some beautiful country asContinue reading “Esperanza Inlet and Nootka Sound”
